About Me

My photo
I created this blog to keep everyone updated about how things are going with my GAP year. I left the US on August 26th and returned May 4th. During GAP year I was taking classes in Spanish, theology, evangelism, and missions. I was working in a ministry called Metro, went to a Spanish church called Principe de Paz, and an English church called GGP. In the GAP year program I had the opportunity to be part of a weekly discipleship/small groups with the leaders in Costa Rica. God did great and mighty things in my life!! I am learned so much and I am falling more in love with Jesus, His word, and His people everyday! I would love it if you would continue to pray for me. Thanks for all of your support!

Philippians

Philippians has been the book of the Bible that has been on my heart lately and here's why. As I have told you before I had been worrying about my future like college and a summer job. I was telling my parents this one night and my sweet momma read me Philippians 4:4-9. That is always a great reminder. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything with prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (v. 6) Then just a few days later my grandpa emailed me and said he was praying Philippians 4 over me as well. Then the following week in Bible class we studied Philippians. I think God was trying to tell me something. He was saying "Desiree don't worry. Talk to me about everything and trust me."

Wendell Calder was the guest speaker who taught us about Philippians and it was just wonderful. I felt like God was directly speaking to me the whole week through Wendell. I learned so much that week and wish I could share with you everything he said, but one of the main things that stood out to me is that worrying is the opposite of trusting in God. Wow, that hit me hard. Jesus is patiently and continually telling me to trust in Him and by the grace of God I am trying to do just that.

Wendell Calder is an evangelist and him and his wife travel all over the world sharing the gospel. It was an honor to have them come here to Costa Rica, meet them, and be taught by Wendell. They are such a sweet couple and a huge blessing. I would love it if you would pray for them.
