About Me

My photo
I created this blog to keep everyone updated about how things are going with my GAP year. I left the US on August 26th and returned May 4th. During GAP year I was taking classes in Spanish, theology, evangelism, and missions. I was working in a ministry called Metro, went to a Spanish church called Principe de Paz, and an English church called GGP. In the GAP year program I had the opportunity to be part of a weekly discipleship/small groups with the leaders in Costa Rica. God did great and mighty things in my life!! I am learned so much and I am falling more in love with Jesus, His word, and His people everyday! I would love it if you would continue to pray for me. Thanks for all of your support!

Lots of groups

We have many different groups that we are split into for different things. There are guys and girls in every group that we have.
We have small groups which some people do on Tuesday evenings and two groups do on Thursday. For small groups we get together with the leader we were given which for the girls is Becca, Tina, Ginny (a lady from GGP), or Sonya and for the guys is Garrett or Ben. Sonya is my small group leader. We get together on Thursday evenings and talk about how we are doing and sometimes read scripture or go through a book together, eat snacks, and pray for each other. Each small group does different things though.
Then we have our roommates which is of course the people in our room and there are 4 people to a room. I am in the room named Juan. I love my roommates so much we get along really well. We love doing things together outside our room too. They are some of my closest friends now. We are all very different, but balance each other out really well.
Then there are our church groups which are the groups we go to on Sunday morning church and also youth group on Saturday evenings. All of us go to GGP on Sunday evenings. I go to Principe de Paz and Kaylee is our church group leader. On Sunday mornings we have about 45 people I'm guessing. The youth have like a Sunday school class before the regular service then we go to the sanctuary and sing songs with the worship band which is pretty special cause a lot of churches here just play CD's. We have like a greeting time, we have offering, and our pastor gives the sermon. Sometimes we have missionaries that come from different places to come and speak to us though. We have a handful of people that can speak English which is very nice. We have a pretty small youth group but a lot of people that come regularly. I think we have about 20 people that come to youth group including the 6 in my church group.
Then we have our ministry groups. I am in Metro ministry and Matt is our leader. There is also ESL which teach free classes for people that want to learn English at GGP, orphanage ministry, and two different sports ministries. All the ministries are on Saturday mornings. Some ministry and church groups have some of the same people in them.
Then we also have our cleaning groups. We rotate groups everyday for dish crew and kitchen crew. So when it is your day your group does all the dishes or cleans the kitchen after meals.
